12:00 noon – 2:00 p.m.
2.0 CLE Hours
It is safe to say that the majority of evidence and discovery requests will be coming to you in some electronic format. When a forensic examiner gives you a forensic image of a hard drive, what will you do? Sure, you could pay a provider to run a search for you, but sometimes you aren’t sure what you are looking to find. As well, you may not have an IT department to help you wade through what you are about to see.
The goal of this seminar is to enable the ATTORNEY/PARALEGAL to use tools that are FREE and readily available to load the image, and then to teach the ATTORNEY/PARALEGAL where to look for “low hanging fruit.” This will not obviate the need for competent examiners, but it WILL give the small law firm the ability to do many of these things themselves.
This seminar will cover:
Copy vs. image
Current forensic methods
Validation of electronic evidence
Where data lives
Native file format – what does that mean to me?
