Lorain County Bar Association Foundation

Recognizes Excellence and Courage


    The Lorain County Bar Association Foundation is pleased to announce that it will present awards to recognize outstanding individuals in three separate categories:  Lifetime Achievement, Member of the Year, and Courage. 

Congratulations to the following winners:

    Lifetime Achievement:  Attorney Allen Spike of the Spike Meckler Firm.  Allen is in his 50th year of practice, receiving his JD from Case Western University Law School in 1964, and is one of the most well-regarded domestic relations attorneys in this area.  Allen literally wrote the book on domestic law for the State of Ohio.  Allen is well-known, respected and liked by attorneys throughout Ohio.  The criteria for this award is  noteworthy contributions during a legal career of at least 25 years; commitment to professional growth; service as a role model or mentor promoting advancement of the law in the community.  Attorney Spike is the epitome of what this award represents. 

    LCBA Member of the Year:  Attorney Tom Theado of the Gary, Naegele & Theado law firm.  Tom is a very active member of the LCBA.  He served on the Executive Committee for15 years and was President in 2011-2012.  He is the chair of the LCBA’s mentor committee and regularly attends LCBA events.  Tom has devoted hundreds, if not thousands, of volunteer hours to the LCBA.  The criteria for this award is exemplary service to the LCBA.  Attorney Theado is exactly the type of member this award showcases.

    Courage Award:  Mindi Kuebler, RN, MSN, SANE-A, SANE-P, Director Human Trafficking Collaborative of Lorain County since 2009, Ohio Guidestone Nurse Supervisor.  Mindi has made it her life’s mission to help victims of human trafficking.   The Courage Award does not have to be an attorney but must be a resident of Lorain County who has shown exemplary courage in aiding and supporting citizens in Lorain County, Ohio.  Ms. Kuebler has shown amazing courage in her work to help those affected by this grave violation of human rights.  She is the quintessential person of courage. 

    The winners were honored at the Lorain County Bar Association Foundation’s Charity Ball & Awards Ceremony on Saturday, March 22, 2013 at Fountain Bleau in Avon Lake.
