LCBA Lawyer Referral Service
Approved by Ohio Supreme Court!
The Lorain County Bar Association is pleased to announce that the Ohio Supreme Court has approved its application to provide a Lawyer Referral Service (LRS) beginning May 1, 2009, to assist persons willing and able to pay usual and customary attorney fees in securing appropriate legal representation by referral to participants in the LRS.
The Bar Association receives numerous calls a week requesting lawyer referrals but, until now, could only refer those callers to the yellow pages. Now, the LRS will endeavor to help an inquirer determine if the problem is legal by screening and when possible, referring non-legal matters to governmental or consumer agencies as appropriate. Persons identified as needing legal representation will be referred by the LRS to a participating attorney who is believed to have the necessary expertise to deal with the perceived legal needs of the inquirer. LRS participation is open to all licensed attorneys having an office in Lorain County, Ohio, or any contiguous county subject to the terms and conditions set forth in the LRS Application and Agreement.
This program is one more way that the LCBA is working to reach out to the community to provide additional services that are much needed.

2009 Valentine’s Day Ball
The Lorain County Bar Association held its second annual Valentine's Day Ball on Saturday, February 14, 2008, at DeLuca's Place in the Park. The Ball was generously sponsored by Levit Jewelers, Key Private Bank, Community Foundation of Lorain County, First Place Bank and the Lorain County Urban League. The Ball is a very important event because all of the proceeds (in excess of $4,000) will go to help children in need in Lorain County though the LCBA’s Cy Pres Fund.
The LCBA was honored to receive over $10,000 in donations for raffle and silent auction items including a beautiful ladies custom diamond ring from Levit Jewelers valued at $2,150 that was won by Cindy Bilancini.
The evening began with a champagne cocktail hour and hors d’hoeuvres, followed by dinner and dancing with incredible music provided by The Motion.
